US PASSPORT INFORMATION

We recommend that all US Citizens get a blue passport book. This is the strongest and most universal identification for traveling the world. Adult passport books are valid for ten years and required to fly out of the country to all foreign destinations. The US Government also offers a passport card but we do not suggest this unless you just want to cruise or need to cross the border frequently by vehicle. In 2005, the USA instituted the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. Under WHTI, you can still cruise to many destinations from Florida on loop cruises that go to the Caribbean and depart/return to the same port. Under this rule, you can still cruise with a drivers license/state id and a birth certificate. Under this scenario, a marriage license may be required if you changed your name, thus our suggestion that everybody eventually get a passport book.
