JAMAICA Jamaica has three main tourism areas:  Montego Bay, Ocho Rios/Runaway Bay and Negril.  Montego Bay is the location of the airport and works really well for three or four day short trips as no Montego Bay hotel is more than 30 minutes from the airport.  Ocho Rios is about 2 hours east of Montego Bay airport.  Before you arrive in Ocho Rios proper, you pass through Runaway Bay and Mamee Bay which both have major hotel developments.  Negril is a beach town about an hour and a half west of MoBay as the locals call it. SIGHTSEEING Dunns River Falls - Climb up a 1200 foot waterfall from the sea.  This park is landscaped with many flowering plants and has a nice beach at the foot of the hill. Mystic Mountain - This is one of Jamaica's newest attractions with a mock bobsled track in a nod to the Jamaica bobsled team in the winter olympics.  Enjoy a trip up on the chairlift called the Sky Explorer.  Enjoy the forest ecosystem, sparkling river streams or the zip lines through the canopy. Shaw Park Gardens - Visit the flower gardens high in the hills above Ocho Rios Island Village-Stop at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville or visit the Bob Marley attraction. Rosehall Greathouse-White Witch Annie Palmer used to run the place but today it is just a nice stop along the way to see how Colonials lived on Jamaica plantations. Rocklands - In the mountains above Montego Bay.  You will need a good taximan to take you to the Rocklands bird sanctuary to hand feed a hummingbird. Mayfield Falls-Mayfield is close to Negril on the South Coast.  Swim in the river, enjoy some food and get an explanation of plantation crops grown in Jamaica in an earlier century.  In the same area is the more localized YS Falls where you can take a horse carriage ride to see the falls. Port Antonio-Take a full day trip to the Eastern side of the Jamaica to see the tropical rainforest with a backdrop of the Blue Mountain peak.  Port Antonio has great beaches at San San or Frenchman's Cove plus waterfalls and the original river rafting trip made famous by Errol Flynn.
